Torpedo Dive Bomber

The Dauntless dive bomber planes with their iconic ailerons were a mainstay of the US Air force during the second world war. Playing an important role in the battle for the coral sea a number of squadrons were stationed in Espiritu Santo during the war years.

It is believed this particular plane ran out of fuel during its return run from a bombing raid and had to be ditched by the pilot, Not destroyed by the impact with the water it now sits at around 25 meters surrounded by other artefacts from the wars years.
