WRECK DIVES
USS Tucker. (US Destroyer) Distance from our jetty 20-25min. This WWII wreck is one of the less explored in Santo and sits on a fantastic reef. Another casualty from friendly fire the USS Tucker went down just off the island of Malo. Over the years she has broken into three main pieces the bow, the mid section engine blocks, and the stern spread over a hundred meters of reef or so the depths found on this wreck are 14-21m. A must do when in Santo.
Tui Tawaite. (Marine Tug) Distance from our jetty 10min.
The Tui Twaite is a tug boat heroic in the historic Wahenni ferry incedent in New Zealand. She found herself in Santo pumping fuel and oil out of the sunken President Coolidge, following a leak that could have been, and was a ecological disaster for Luganville, and the Segond Canal. She is 40m long and now rests up right in the middle of Segond Canal straight off our jetty, sitting in 40-45m of water this is a fantastic dive for the experienced diver looking for something a bit different than the Coolidge.
Submarine Nets (Shore Dive) Located directly off Coral Quays Resort’s jetty is the remains of WWII submarine nets placed by the American troops to protect Luganville from the Japanese mini Sub threat. Mini subs no longer being a threat these steel nets have collapsed and over the passed 70 years have turned into an abundant artificial reef. A very interesting dive. President Coolidge
If you are wanting to dive on the President Coolidge, please speak to the Resort Dive Instructor, Mr Michael Batcock who is a “SSI Dive Instructor #52001 (DG, DM, DCS, AI, AOWI, SPI)” for all the information you may require, as Michael has done in excess of 400 dives on the President Coolidge as a Instructor and guide.
Our Dive Instructor can advise on the safest and best options reqarding diving the Coolidge, and is happy to assist you in any way. Note: If you are a beginner or inexperienced, come dive with us, we will ensure you are fully capable to then go onto the great big wreck, with the right wreck dive operator.
